wot goes 'round.......

Another fast and furious week for me as I frantically try to beat the bead clock to get all the orders filled before the concrete guys arrive first thing on Monday morning to re-do my studio floor.

I was really excited - till it dawned on me that I needed to pack up my entire glass stash and a gazillion containers of assorted silver findings, assorted Czech beads, tools and stringing materials etc. etc. etc. Man, where did all this stuff come from?

By the end of the day we had actually managed to clear the entire studio and by early this morning my creative space looked like this.
Well, there's a lot of banging and drilling in the next room . I can hardly hear myself think yet alone think of doing anything creative today. Back later when it comes to me.

my place of Zen

...for this week at the very least, was the ever so peaceful Japanese Bathhouse and Women's Day Spa in Newstead, Brisbane. It was totally indulgent and a self absorbing way to start the week. Peaceful, relaxing and a great place to regroup my thoughts and focus on the busy weeks that lay ahead of me.

On the bead front this week sees the last of the focal beads being made (all in pink) for Monica's Jewellery Classes being held on October 23rd and 25th to support the McGrath Foundation. I have updated my website during the week and have added some very cool heart earring. You can check them out here. I have also sold out of all my silver cored beads for the time being - they will now live at Studio Altenburg in Briadwood. The lovely Gina couldn'dt decide which ones she liked the best, and so she bought them all! God bless you Gina :)

Life has been very hectic of late and it seems there's never enought time to do the things we really want to do. The weekend saw us all spend some quality time as a family. Christian and Sebastian had a 4am start on Sunday as they prepared to take part in the 100km + charity cylce ride from Brisbane to the Gold Coast. They both crossed the finishing line several hours later...both smiling! What a HUGE effort ... we are all very proud of you both ~ well done.

...the weekend came and went

.... and somewhere in between, the Brisbane Glass Bead makers raised $3700.00 for Breast Cancer Research. We had a fabulous time and the guest certainly came away with the big booty of prizes. A big thank you from all of us to the local businesses supported us by donating food items and use of their facilities.
Many of our fellow glass artists throughout Australia donated items as well, along with several glass suppliers.

We were also supported by several high profile Australian Glass artists. Tina Cooper (Tina Cooper Gallery at Eumundi) Lucas Salton and Jonathon Westacott (Yandina Hot Shop) donated items or custom made items for our event.
This included a fabulous paperweight, a handmade glass goblet, small blue Murini bowl and a large pink platter especially made for us by Lucas Salton.

These items were auctioned and raised additional funds along with donated percentage of jewellery sales, raffles and lucky envelopes. A big thank you from me to everyone in the Think Pink Team who put their precious time and effort into the project and helped make it the success that it was.

Now that I have a bit more time to myself, I will working on making some more of these pink focal beads....
These ones are heading off to Mad Monnies where they will be used in Think Pink Jewellery making class towards the end of the month.
I have been scrounging through my glass stash to find every possible shade of pink glass that I have (and it looks like I have lots!!!)
I have a few more to make and will post pictures as soon as they're finished.
Take care ..... talk soon!
