.... the time is right

... to now show off my bead soup blog party creation. My soup mix was put together by Karyn. I used several components from her original mix along with some of my own.

... just right!

My piece has a fused cabochon as its centre focus. I had many and varied ideas about how to use this piece in my jewellery. I made and remade several different pieces before finally deciding on this look! I'm really happy with the final product - "look and style" of my piece pretty much falls in line with the way I work. In the end, I chose colours and bead shape to add interest and details to my piece!

... too hard

Inspired by Eni Oken's wire wrapping techniques, my first attempts looked like this .... it seemed like a great idea at the start but I quickly realised that maybe my choice of style was a little to complex since my own wire wrapping skills are fairly limited!

... too simple

Then I thought I would try something completely different and use hemp cord to string and knot complementing beads and the necklace look "too" plain! So, shelving another idea to make way for my final creation was an easy choice!

Thanks Karyn for being my partner and to Lori for her amazing energy and enthusiasm! Hugs, Liz x

The "just right" is just right! I love the combo of colors. Keep trying with the wire wrapping, looks like you've got the concept, just a little practice.

Mmm, looks good enough to eat! Like watermelon and sour apple Jolly Ranchers. :D That said, though, they are very beautiful spring colors. Love the final piece; it has a lot of upbeat character and sparkle. I also like that you showed us its evolution. I, too, was not happy with my first two attempts. I never would have thought to share them, though! XD Great blogging, I love it.

When I redo pieces to try and find the perfect balance, I call it "The Goldie Locks Syndrome". I will sometimes take apart and re-put together a piece a dozen times to get it just right. Glad I'm not the only one.

You did a great job! I think you created a really lovely piece that's just right.

A pretty, sweet spring necklace!

Yes, sometimes beads need to go through that trial and error process before one finds a good design for them.
