... I love this time of year

... not only because of the Christmas and New Year festivities but because it is a time where I usually stop to reflect over the year that was and think of where things will take me in the months to come. As a family, we slow down and spend time together. I have thoroughly enjoyed these past few days, totally absorbing myself in the most menial domestic duties and spending time with my partner and my boys.

The big wet has finally broken and for the first time in December (well almost) the sun came out to play. We made the most of it today and drove down the highway to the Gold Coast and spent the day on the beach! It was just we all needed - sun, sand and a bit of surf to get as all moving again!

... hello teddy!

A few days ago I made this teddy following a tutorial written by a glass bead maker, who in another lifetime made soft toys (can you tell?) So much for sitting down to some relaxing play time! It was quite a challenge since sculptural animal beads are really not part of my repertoire. It was enough for me to realise that it was taking me out of my comfort zone and so, I have decided that more playtime making animal bead is needed! (2011 resolution #1)

We are off to see the new year in with friends tonight - so whatever you do, have fun and take care. Hugs, Liz x
