... yes, yes

... I've been a little slow in updating my blurb lately, but I'm only just getting back into the swing of things after hurting myself last week. Lots of painful physio and a few needlesticks and I'm almost back to normal! All order placed with me during the Brisbane Craft and Quilt fair will be sent out this week - apologies again for the delay :)

... green /blue series of disc beads

Some new work from me includes these disc like beads. They are thin and slightly flutted, mostly made with transparent glass and finished off with a series of gold lustre dots along the rim. The green/blue series includes colours such as emerald, turquoise and aqua. I have just dropped in a few sets at Mad Monnies. You can also order them in custom made colours - just drop me a line here.

I wanted to show you some pieces I've been working on in the background. Remember a few weeks ago I showed you some of my sandblasted beads that were made during my residency at the Canberra Glassworks? Well, this is how I have used them. The beads were surface etched using an industrial sandblasting machine. This process leaves the surface smooth and with a satin finish. In this case, I masked out a simple design and created a "resist" pattern.

The jewellery is simple and elegant and the focus is on the bead. The hammered silver choker finishes the piece off nicely. You will be able to see this and more pieces in the series at the Red Hill Gallery from November 18, 2010.

Have a great week everyone - talk soon, Liz x

Beautiful new work Liz. I love the sandblasted bead. We have a sandblaster at work and I am a fool not to use it. Your work inspires me to start using it!

Ooh. LOVE the new jewellery. And of course the discs as well - like little jewels.

Thanks for the kind words Libby and Leisa. I love them too and real departure from my usual style of work!
